Food Processing
Food processing produces wastewater which contains high levels of organic matter such as suspended solids, oils and greases as well as nutrients such as Nitrogen, Ammonia and Phosphorus. Food processors include, dairy processors, feedlots, abattoirs, rendering plants, wineries, breweries, distilleries, fruit and vegetable processors.
Overloading of processing facilities often results in water of a poor quality being discharged. This is harmful to the environment and sewage networks alike and results in significant increases in discharge costs.
